Ashler refers to a cut of stone that is more or less true on all faces adjacent to those of other stones allowing for very thin mortar joints between stones. The face of the stone veneer may be tooled or even smoothly polished. These natural stones are in contrast to a rubble mix stone with their irregular shapes and rough uneven faces.
Ashlar, while often viewed as a very formal stone cut, is suited to many styles and closely resembles the Castle Stone style stone in the manufactured stone line. Dry stacking this natural stone veneer is also possible because of the straighter edges.
A homes’ exterior façade is the first area visitors will see along with the landscaping. Adding a beautiful natural stone veneer as an accent or on the entire façade will increase the curb appeal of your home as well as the resale value. It’s a good idea to plan your project using a computer rendering program. While the rendering will only give you an idea of what your home could look like it, it will help you decide where and how much natural stone you may want to add.
The ashlar stone collection offers you a variety of colour blends increasing your choices to enhance your façade. If your project is adding stone veneer to a new build you are open to anything. Combing other elements like stucco, or siding will bring another element and create even more visual interest. Then don’t forget about the landscaping as this will complete your project and further accentuate your natural stone.
Stone isn’t just for the exterior of your home. Bring the outside in with a beautiful natural stone veneer ashlar. You may think that only a small stone would work as an interior accent wall, but as you can see it also works very well in a large stone veneer stone veneer. Not every room can carry the look although many can with the right decorative elements that you bring into the space. Large scale furniture will make the large stones right for the space.
When bringing large stones inside to your walls you will want to plan the layout of the stones as these will be seen and watched more closely than your exterior. Sitting in front of your home staring at the wall isn’t something you’ll do as often as sitting in front of your stone veneer fireplace surround. You will be happy with your selection of natural stone ashlar and even happier if you planned out the layout in advance.
